How does it work?
Tailored to each patient's unique needs
Step 1 - Referral
Complete the referral form to enable us to establish how best to help you and one of our team will contact you to discuss how to proceed.
Step 2 - Assessment
Our multi-disciplinary team will conduct the assessment, following NICE guidelines and ensuring it is as thorough and comprehensive as possible.
Step 3 - Report
The Lead clinician will discuss the diagnosis with you and provide a full report of the multi-disciplinary team’s findings, for you to review.
What’s included in our Autism Assessment Service?
What about a diagnosis?
An initial appointment is offered to all families to provide the opportunity to discuss the assessment process and answer any questions they may have. It also allows clinicians to establish whether it will be possible to complete an assessment and be able to gather the necessary information to meet the required NICE criteria.
The other purpose of the initial meeting is to establish whether the young person could be presenting with any other difficulties that may also require assessing. It will always remain at the discretion of the family whether to proceed with an assessment, but the initial meeting provides an opportunity for the assessing team to indicate whether they think an assessment could be beneficial.
However, it is not possible to pre-empt the outcome of the full assessment process and undertaking an assessment does not guarantee that a diagnosis will be made.
